Go Greener with your IT System
(Level :   )

Following the success of the Earth Hour initiative on March the 28th, Netk5 helps you with a few tips for greener computing. Energy and paper savings help your business in a responsible way!

  1. Switch off or suspend your computer and all peripherals during extended periods of inactivity
  2. Switch-on and off energy consuming devices such as laser printers and photocopy machines according to needs, rather than leaving them on all the time.
  3. Replace your old CRT screens (the bulky ones) with LCD screens.
  4. Laptops are more energy-efficient than Desktops in most cases. Use laptops whenever possible.
  5. Make sure the power-management features of your computers are activated, such as automatically turning off screens and disks after several minutes of inactivity.
  6. Only print documents that you really need and recycle used paper.
  7. Dispose of e-waste, such as old computers, old screens, used printer cartbridges, according to regulations.
  8. Improve the usage rate of servers with virtualization.

Quickly find a contact in Outlook
(Level :   )

In Microsoft Outlook, by default, typing a character in the Contacts list will create a new contact.
If you prefer to quickly open a specific contact record in Outlook, set up your Contacts list to display as Address Cards by:

  1. Go to "Contacts"
  2. Click View->Arrange By, and Current View
  3. Then, select "Address Cards"

Now select any Contact in the list to highlight it. Type the initial letters of the contact name you want to open, and when that contact record appears highlighted, press ENTER or double click the name to open it.
This is really useful when you have a large number of contact recorded in your Outlook

Li He, Poèmes

Poetry from the Tang Dynasty is fairly well reknown and documented, with a notable exception. Little is known in Occident, or let alone translated, about Li He (791-817), whose dark poems, audacious and uniquely modern for the time, were first published only 15 years after his death.
For our French speaking readers, Marie-Thérèse Lambert finished a nearly two decades work of translation of the 243 remaining poems from Li He at this date, bringing us the first complete anthology in French of the poet.
An occasion for us to discover Li He's surprising genius, after nearly 1200 years of silence.
